Amateur ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY

About Me

Who I am

I have always had an interest in astronomy from a very young age. Staring out of the car window as a child on the long night drive from Portstewart back to Belfast the night sky looked beautiful and  has always held me in awe.

I moved to Australia in 1998, having met my Australian wife in London.

My career has been in IT and having worked as the Global Observatory Manager for iTelescope at Siding Spring in New South Wales I have returned to corporate Australia to continue with my IT career.

I have added some more hardware to my hobby and hopefully I will be able to improve on my efforts. Amateur astronomy equipment has come a long way over the years, allowing amateurs to do more and to collaborate with professional astronomers. The hobby can be challenging, time consuming and expensive if you want all the latest gadgets. To look through a telescope under dark skies is magical and you can do it for free if you pop along to the local astronomical club. Go on... give yourself a treat.
